Military Service and Post–Active Duty Student Deferment
To qualify for a Military Service or Post–Active Duty Student Deferment, you must meet the following criteria:

• Serving or returning from active duty in connection with war, other military operation, or national emergency, including qualifying National Guard duty. This does not include active duty for training or attendance at a service school.
• Have an authorized official complete Section 4 of the deferment form. As an alternative, you may have a commanding or personnel officer submit supporting documentation, or submit a copy of your active duty orders.
