A message about the CARES Act
KHESLC loan borrowers
The student loan provisions included in H.R. 748, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, does not apply to most federal student loans taken out before 2010 or for private student loans - which includes all KHESLC loans. If this situation changes, KHESLC will provide you with updated information.
For all KHESLC loans (Advantage Education Loans, Advantage Parent Loans, Advantage Refinance Loans and federal loans), KHESLC will offer a disaster forbearance that allows a borrower facing financial hardship to suspend their interest and principal payments for up to 90 days. If you're experiencing hardship because of COVID-19, please call us at 800-693-8220 800-693-8220 or log in to your account and send an email to a Servicing Specialist requesting the disaster forbearance. If you have previously requested the disaster forbearance and need additional assistance, you may be eligible to receive an additional 90 days disaster forbearance.
If you have federal student loans made after 2010 your loans may be eligible for the student loan provisions provided in the CARES Act. If you think you have qualifying federal loans, please contact your servicer. For more information please visit studentaid.gov.
